Art tech stage production "Another 18 Ways to Create or Mute Sound" to be presented by media artist GayBird
******************************************************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present three art tech stage productions "Another 18 Ways to Create or Mute Sound" from July 29 to 31 (Friday to Sunday), in which local media artist GayBird will explore the topic of creating and muting sound with his newly created mechanical installations and electronic percussion instruments, bringing audiences an interactive performance full of sensory audio-visual stimulation.

Continuing from one of his productions last year, "18 Ways to Create or Mute Sound", GayBird once again goes beyond the venue limits, showcases his sound creation through making use of theatre space from a new perspective. Blending theatrical elements, including stage lighting, surround sound effects and mechanical installations into the work, and making use of innovative technologies such as immersive sound and precise stage tracking systems, the programme provides an unexpected audio-visual stimulation by combining the original sound of materials with digital sound processing and live performances by musicians.

Active as a composer, arranger, music director and producer in Hong Kong's music and arts industry, GayBird has many years of experience in multidisciplinary art, and excels at using technology, media art, spacing and sound in his creations. His recent works combine visuals, electro-mechanical interactive programming, craftsmanship and installation art, including the performance of "Keep Breathing at Zero", presented by the LCSD in September last year, which received high acclaim. This time, by working with the artist again, the LCSD hopes that this innovative programme will foster interest in and understanding of the arts and technology among the audiences, thereby promoting the development of arts technology in Hong Kong.

The art tech stage production "Another 18 Ways to Create or Mute Sound" will be held at 8pm on July 29 (Friday) and July 30 (Saturday), and at 3pm on July 31 (Sunday), at the Auditorium of the Kwai Tsing Theatre.
