Police offer reward of $250,000 to appeal for information on open fire case in Central (with photos)

     Police are now offering a reward of $250,000 to appeal to the public for information on an open fire case happened in Central on June 10.

     The case happened in the small hours on June 10. Seven men with machetes attacked another party’s vehicle outside 34 Wyndham Street. The suspect, believed to belong to the party inside the vehicle under attack, reportedly used a firearm to shoot a man armed with machete. The man was wounded with gunshot.

     Three men were injured in the case, of which a non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) man had gunshot wounds to his abdomen. A bullet head, a bullet casing and nine knives in suspected connection with the case were seized. A total of five men were arrested for attempted wounding and possession of offensive weapon, including a 24-year-old local man and four NEC men, aged from 23 to 42. The five men have been charged jointly with one count of attempted wounding with intent and each with one count of possession of offensive weapon.

     The case was taken up by the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) for investigation. Police are actively liaising with other law enforcement agencies for intelligence exchange, in which violence and firearms are involved in the case, so as to bring suspects to justice as soon as possible. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Mr Yuen Yuk-kin, had a special meeting with the senior management of Immigration Department and the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department today (June 13) on strengthening collaboration and joint operations to combat serious crimes of this kind.
