***************************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will hold "Toy Formula 1 · Lai Chi Kok Park" on June 19 (Sunday) as the first event of its Happy@Parks campaign. By taking part in radio-controlled model car parades, demonstrations and other activity sessions in Lai Chi Kok Park on the day, members of the public can experience the vibrancy of the park amid the joyful and celebratory ambience of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). This campaign is under the exclusive sponsorship of the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), and is one of the many initiatives supported by the HKJC's approved donation of $630 million to the Government of the HKSAR to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, demonstrating that the HKJC is resolute in pursuing its purpose of acting continuously for the betterment of society, all in support of creating a stronger community together.

During the event, the hard-surfaced soccer pitch of Lai Chi Kok Park Stage I will be turned into three racing circuits and a parade area for radio-controlled model cars. Experienced participants can show their skills in a large racing circuit measuring about 35 metres by 20m, while beginners may experience the fun of operating radio-controlled model off-road cars and motorcycles on the two smaller racing circuits. Participants can also look around and take pictures of the different types of radio-controlled model cars on display in the parade area. Professionals will be present at the event to offer guidance and assistance to participants, as well as share their experience through demonstrations.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the HKSAR's establishment, the LCSD is organising a series of Happy@Parks activities with various themes from June to December this year in six LCSD parks, allowing users to experience the joyful atmosphere with their families during holidays through a variety of activities and games.

"Toy Formula 1 · Lai Chi Kok Park", will be held at the hard-surfaced soccer pitch of Lai Chi Kok Park Stage I from 3pm to 6pm on June 19. Admission is free, and different types of radio-controlled model cars will be provided for participants to use without charge. Members of the public are welcome to join on the spot. In order to comply with the requirements stipulated in the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F) and relevant requirements of administrative instructions, participants are required to scan the "LeaveHomeSafe" QR code and produce their vaccination records for the person-in-charge to carry out a visual inspection before being allowed to enter. Participants must wear masks at all times during the event in accordance with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Wearing of Mask) Regulation (Cap. 599I).
