OGCIO reminds persons-in-charge of premises to update "QR Code Verification Scanner" mobile app as soon as possible
******************************************************************************************
A spokesman for the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) said today (April 25) that according to the requirements of the Vaccine Pass, premises subject to active checking must use the latest version of the "QR Code Verification Scanner" mobile app to scan and record the Vaccine Pass QR codes provided by persons entering the premises in order to comply with the operational requirements.

"If premises continue to use the old version of the scanner app, an incorrect audio alert will be generated as the app cannot verify a recovery record QR code. The person concerned would be mistaken as not meeting the Vaccine Pass requirement, which may affect the smooth operation of the Vaccine Pass," the spokesman reminded.

On April 19, the Government launched the recovery record QR code and updated the scanner app to version 4.3.0 or above, which supports verification of the recovery record QR code. The new version of the scanner app can also check if the QR code of a user's electronic vaccination record, recovery record or Medical Exemption Certificate is compliant with the Vaccine Pass requirements of different stages. The persons-in-charge of the premises subject to active checking (including catering business premises) should now update the scanner app to the latest version in the app stores if the version they are using is not 4.3.0 or above. There is no need to delete the current app and previous scan records saved in the app will be retained in the new version after the update.

An auto-detect function for version updates was added to the new version of the scanner app. The persons-in-charge of the premises will be alerted for future version updates in a timely manner so that they can inspect the vaccine pass QR codes of the persons entering the premises in accordance with the latest requirements. The scanner app also has an added function to assist the persons-in-charge of the premises to register the information of their mobile phones with the app installed.
