One nomination form for Chief Executive Election received by deadline

     The nomination period for the sixth-term Chief Executive Election, which began on April 3, will run until April 16. As tomorrow (April 15) and April 16 are both general holidays, the deadline for submitting the nomination form was 5pm today (April 14). The Returning Officer, Mr Justice Keith Yeung Kar-hung, received a total of one nomination form by the deadline.

     The Candidate Eligibility Review Committee will, within seven days after the close of nominations, publish in the Gazette a notice on the validity of the nomination. The notice will carry the names of the validly nominated candidate and the names of the Election Committee members nominating the candidate.

     The Electoral Affairs Commission will hold an online briefing for the candidate and his electioneering team. The Commission Chairman, Mr Justice Barnabas Fung Wah, will chair the briefing and brief the candidate about the guidelines on election-related activities and important points to note in running the election campaign. A representative from the Independent Commission Against Corruption will explain the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance. A representative from Hongkong Post will explain the arrangement and requirements of the free postage service for election mail. Representatives from the Registration and Electoral Office and the Department of Justice will also be present.
