EDB announces latest arrangements for second round of Basic Law Test
***************************************************************

The Education Bureau (EDB) announced today (April 11) that the second round of the Basic Law Test (BLT) for newly appointed teachers in public sector schools will be held on May 21 (Saturday).

A spokesman for the EDB said that starting from the 2022/23 school year, teachers are required to obtain a pass result in the BLT in order to be appointed as regular teachers. Considering teachers' need of taking the BLT, the EDB will make special arrangements by reopening the application for the second round of the BLT.

Applicants who have submitted their applications earlier for the second round of the BLT are not required to submit fresh applications or amend the submitted choices. Except for the test date, the previous chosen sessions and regions of test centres will remain unchanged. The EDB will notify these applicants of the application results and test details by email on or before May 6. An SMS message will also be sent to inform the applicants of the email.

New applicants may apply through the online application system on the EDB webpage (www.edb.gov.hk/en/basiclawtest) from 9am on April 22 to 5pm on April 28 (Hong Kong time). As places for the test are limited, applicants will be arranged to sit for the test on a first-come, first-served basis. These applicants will be notified of the application results and test details by email on or before May 12.

The EDB will closely monitor the epidemic situation and move in step with the development of the overall anti-epidemic measures in Hong Kong for the arrangements of the test. For more details and the latest updates about the BLT organised by the EDB, please refer to the EDB webpage (www.edb.gov.hk/en/basiclawtest).
