******************************************************************************************
The Mainland epidemic prevention and control expert delegation deployed by the Central Authorities visited two residential care homes for the elderly (RCHEs) and catering premises in a shopping mall today (April 10) under the arrangement by the Social Welfare Department (SWD) and the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department respectively to have a better grasp of the relevant epidemic prevention measures being adopted.

In the morning, accompanied by the representatives of the Labour and Welfare Bureau and the SWD, the expert delegation visited two RCHEs to learn about the management and operation of different types of residential care homes.

The persons-in-charge of the RCHEs briefed the expert delegation on how they handled the infected residents, including patient segregation and manpower arrangement to cater for patients' special caring needs. They also introduced the vaccination situation of the residents and the anti-epidemic measures taken in the RCHEs, especially how they keep track of the infections in the premises with the use of rapid antigen test kits provided by the Government that enable their staff and residents to conduct tests every day.

The expert delegation shared a series of prevention and control strategies with the Government and RCHE representatives on site, including how the RCHEs can effectively handle the infected elderly and step up infection control measures in their daily operation to provide protection for their staff and other uninfected residents.

Accompanied by the Deputy Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene, Miss Diane Wong, the expert delegation visited a shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui in the afternoon to inspect the compliance of applicable requirements under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F) by catering premises in the shopping mall. The delegation was pleased to note that the catering premises they visited all fully complied with the requirements, including those on the "Vaccine Pass" and air change per hour, under various anti-epidemic regulations, and are making the necessary preparation for the social distancing measures for the next stage starting from April 21.

On the invitation of the Food and Health Bureau, the representative of the shopping mall briefed the delegation on the overall situation on the use of "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile app and "Vaccine Pass" by customers during lunch hour today. This helped the delegation understand the compliance with the requirements by customers entering the shopping mall and the on-the-ground situation of persons passing by the shopping mall on their way returning home or going to work.

Led by the Director of the National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Mr Kan Biao, the expert delegation arrived Hong Kong on April 7 to start their work.
