Public hospitals daily update on COVID-19 cases

As at 0.00am today (April 8), a total of 9 503 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 are currently being treated in the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, the Hospital Authority (HA) Infectious Disease Centre, the Treatment Centre for COVID-19 (AWE) and public hospitals. There were 1 510 patients discharged, 70 patients who passed away in public hospitals, and 15 previously unannounced death cases.
As there are technical errors found in the system when processing data, the number of HA staff tested positive for COVID-19 should be 21 374 and the number of staff returned to work should be 19 691 as at noon today.
The HA will maintain close contact with the Centre for Health Protection to monitor the latest developments and to inform the public and healthcare workers of the latest information in a timely manner.
