     The Government announced today (April 7) that Mr Adolph Leung Wing-sing, Deputy Government Economist, will take up the post of Government Economist on April 19, 2022, when Mr Andrew Au Sik-hung commences his pre-retirement leave.
 
     Commenting on Mr Leung's appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Patrick Nip, said, "Mr Leung has profound professional knowledge and proven leadership and management skills. I am confident that he will be able to lead the Office of the Government Economist (OGE) in rising to the challenges ahead."
 
     On the retirement of Mr Au, Mr Nip said, "Mr Au has served with zeal and commitment in the civil service throughout the past 35 years, and has made significant contributions to the development of Hong Kong. As Government Economist, Mr Au is devoted to enhancing the professional excellence of the OGE. Under his leadership, the OGE has provided the Government with quality economic analyses and professional advice, and helped the Government tackle the economic challenges in the recent years. I wish him a fulfilling and happy retirement."
 
     Brief biographical notes of the two officers are set out below:
 
Mr Andrew Au Sik-hung

     Mr Au joined the Government as Economist in February 1987 and was promoted to Principal Economist in May 2008 and Deputy Government Economist in June 2017 before being appointed as Government Economist in April 2018.
 
Mr Adolph Leung Wing-sing

     Mr Leung joined the Government as Senior Economist in September 1995 and was promoted to Principal Economist in December 2009 before being appointed as Deputy Government Economist in April 2018.
