Mainland Chinese medicine expert group of Central Authorities exchanges views with Hospital Authority and visits Chinese medicine advice service hotline centre and Chinese Medicine Clinic cum Training and Research Centre (with photos)

     The expert group led by the Leader of the Mainland Chinese medicine expert group of the Central Authorities, Mr Tong Xiaolin, continued its visit in Hong Kong today (March 31).
 
     In the morning, the expert group visited the Hospital Authority (HA). It met and exchanged views with the HA Chairman, Mr Henry Fan; the Chief Executive, Dr Tony Ko; and the relevant HA representatives to have a better grasp of the anti-epidemic work of the public healthcare institutions in Hong Kong, including the latest work progress of various Chinese medicine anti-epidemic services. The expert group and the HA also shared their strategies and experience in using Chinese medicine to tackle the epidemic.
 
     Mr Fan said, "The Mainland Chinese medicine expert group has provided considerable precious experience on the application of Chinese medicine in the treatment for COVID-19 patients. We will make reference to the Mainland experience in integrating Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment, so as to achieve the goal of reducing mortality, critical cases and infections."
 
     Accompanied by the representatives of the HA, the expert group then proceeded to visit the Chinese medicine advice service hotline centre. They exchanged views with the Chinese medicine practitioners on duty there with regard to the operation of the centre and enquiries made by members of the public.
 
     In the afternoon, the expert group visited the Chinese Medicine Clinic cum Training and Research Centre (CMCTR), operated by the Pok Oi Hospital (POH) in collaboration with the HA and the Hong Kong Baptist University, in Kowloon City District. Accompanied by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the POH, Dr Jim Lee; POH's team of executives and medical advisers and representatives of the HA, the expert group toured the CMCTR and received briefing by the representatives on the CMCTR's operation of various services including the Special Chinese Medicine Out-patient Programme and the Chinese Medicine Services for Residential Care Homes for the Elderly programme. The expert group was also concerned about the patients' situation, and observed the situation of Chinese medicine practitioners on duty conducting telemedicine consultation with patients. They looked into Hong Kong's current situation on treatment for COVID-19 patients with Chinese medicine and the recovery progress of patients in depth.
 
     Led by Mr Tong, the expert group arrived in Hong Kong on March 29 to conduct visits.
