Employer fined for violation of safety legislation

Hong Kong Commercial Cleaning Services Limited was fined $20,000 at Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts today (March 15) for violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on January 21, 2021, in a building. A cleaning worker engaged in refuse dumping work in the 35/F refuse room of the building fell through the refuse chute opening down to a refuse trolley in the G/F refuse room. The worker sustained serious injuries and passed away the next day.
