Judicial appointment

The Judiciary today (March 14) announced the appointment of Ms Wong Sze-lai as District Judge. The appointment will take effect on March 15, 2022.
The appointment is made by the Chief Executive on the recommendation of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission.
Further judicial appointments will be announced in due course.
The biographical note of Ms Wong is as follows:
Ms Wong was born in Hong Kong in 1972. She obtained LL.B. and P.C.LL. from the University of Hong Kong in 1994 and 1995 respectively. She obtained LL.M. in Chinese and Comparative Law from the City University of Hong Kong in 2004. She was called to the Bar in Hong Kong in 1995. She was in private practice from 1996 until she joined the then Legal Department as Crown Counsel in 1997. She was promoted to Senior Government Counsel in 2000. She joined the Judiciary as Permanent Magistrate in 2013.
