In light of the positive test results for the COVID-19 virus from some sewage samples collected in Central and Western District, Tuen Mun, Sha Tin, North District, Sai Kung and South District, the Home Affairs Department (HAD) said today (March 5) that the Central and Western District Office (C&WDO), the Tuen Mun District Office (TMDO), the Sha Tin District Office (STDO), the North District Office (NDO), the Sai Kung District Office (SKDO) and the South District Office (SDO) will distribute a total of about 170 000 COVID-19 rapid test kits (rapid test kits) to households, cleansing workers and property management staff living and working in the districts.

The C&WDO has started distributing rapid test kits to households, cleansing workers and property management staff living and working in the residential premises in Shek Tong Tsui area for voluntary testing through the owners' corporation and the property management companies. Arrangements have also been made for distribution of rapid test kits to households living in "three-nil" buildings in the district of which the sewage samples were tested positive.

The TMDO distributed rapid test kits to households, cleansing workers and property management staff living and working in San Wai Court, Kin Sang Estate, Eight Regency, Goodrich Garden, Venice Gardens, Ori, Blossom Garden, Pierhead Garden, Marina Garden and Miami Beach Towers for voluntary testing through the property management companies.

The STDO also distributed rapid test kits to households, cleansing workers and property management staff living and working in Ka Shun Court, Ka Keng Court, Hin Yiu Estate, King Tin Court, Parc Royale and Hin Keng Estate through the Housing Department and the property management companies.

The NDO and the SKDO distributed rapid test kits to households, cleansing workers and property management staff living and working in Wing Fai Centre in North District, and Tsui Lam Estate and Po Lam Estate in Sai Kung District for voluntary testing through owners' corporations and the property management companies respectively.

In addition, the SDO distributed rapid test kits to households, cleansing workers and property management staff living and working in Marina Habitat, Yue On Court and Lei Tung Estate for voluntary testing through the property management companies.

The HAD made the above arrangements in the hope of identifying infected persons early.

If people living or working in the above areas are tested positive with the rapid test kits, they may call 2280 4772, the Government's 24-hour hotline for "persons tested positive with rapid antigen tests in areas with positive sewage testing results" to arrange door-to-door delivery of RAT kits and/or a nasal swab self-sampling kit free of charge. If people wish to undergo PCR testing, they may collect nasal swab specimen and arrange door-to-door collection of the specimen for PCR testing.

For more information on rapid test kits, please view the following demonstration video produced by the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzFAUzTtmKk.

The Government appeals for the co-operation of members of the public to safeguard the health of themselves and their families by undergoing testing on a voluntary basis and fighting the virus together. The Government urges all individuals who are in doubt about their own health condition, or individuals with infection risks (such as individuals who visited places with epidemic outbreaks or had contact with cases that tested positive), to undergo testing promptly for early identification of infected persons to reduce the transmission risks of COVID-19.
