HAD distributes complimentary rapid test kits supplied by Central Government to ethnic minorities and underprivileged groups (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
District Offices under the Home Affairs Department (HAD), together with the Hong Kong Community Anti-Coronavirus Link (the Anti-Coronavirus Link), continued to distribute more than 16 000 sets of anti-epidemic supplies provided by the Central Government, the COVID-19 rapid test kits (rapid test kits), to members of the public in need for free in various districts across the territory, including to ethnic minorities and underprivileged groups, in the hope of distributing anti-epidemic supplies provided by the Central Government to people in need as soon as possible and for members of the public to take rapid tests, on March 3.

The Yau Tsim Mong District Office (YTMDO) continued to distribute rapid test kits supplied by the Central Government to residential buildings in the district on March 3. The beneficiaries include ethnic minority residents. The YTMDO has all along been concerned about the need of ethnic minority residents in the district, and has visited buildings where more ethnic minorities reside to distribute rapid test kits to them. The YTMDO has also distributed rapid test kits to other ethnic minorities in the district through some organisations. The Anti-Coronavirus Link has been distributing rapid test kits to various residential buildings in the district since the end of last month, covering ethnic minority residents.

The Yuen Long District Office distributed rapid test kits supplied by the Central Government to cleansing workers at the Tai Kiu Refuse Collection Point in Yuen Long as well as to the elderly and low-income households in a number of buildings in the Shui Pin Wai area in Yuen Long for voluntary testing.

The Sham Shui Po District Office continued to distribute rapid test kits supplied by the Central Government in the district through district organisations on March 3. Rapid test kits and other supplies were particularly distributed to grassroot families such as new arrivals and households living in subdivided flats.

The HAD hopes that through the above arrangements, ethnic minorities and underprivileged groups could be benefited from the anti-epidemic supplies provided by the Central Government and infected persons could be identified early with rapid tests.

The Government appeals for the co-operation of members of the public to safeguard the health of themselves and their families by undergoing testing on a voluntary basis and fighting the virus together. The Government urges all individuals who are in doubt about their own health condition, or individuals with infection risks (such as individuals who visited places with epidemic outbreaks or had contact with cases that tested positive), to undergo testing promptly for early identification of infected persons to reduce the transmission risks of COVID-19.
