Government to set up additional Children Community Vaccination Centre at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre
******************************************************************************************
The Government will set up a Children Community Vaccination Centre (CCVC) at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre from Friday (March 4) to provide BioNTech vaccination service to children aged 5 to 11. Online reservations will start at 9am tomorrow (March 1).

The CCVC at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre is located at the multi-purpose main arena on the second floor of the Tsuen Wan Sports Centre, 53 Wing Shun Street, Tsuen Wan. The current Community Vaccination Centre (CVC) on the ground floor of Tsuen Wan Sports Centre will continue to administer the BioNTech vaccine to persons aged 12 or above.

In addition, starting from March 7, the CCVCs at Hong Kong Children's Hospital and Yuen Chau Kok Sports Centre will extend their opening hours to 8am to 8pm from Monday to Sunday.

The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Patrick Nip, said, "There are deaths and severe cases from COVID-19 involving children in the fifth wave of the epidemic. Vaccination can provide protection to them and reduce their risk of serious illness and death from infection. Parents and guardians of children and teenagers should take immediate actions to arrange vaccination for their children as soon as possible.

"We are making every effort to expedite the pace of vaccination of children. After the CCVC in Tsuen Wan has commenced operation, the vaccination centres dedicated to provide the BioNTech vaccine to children will be increased to four. In addition, we are preparing for the setting up of additional CVCs dedicated to provide the Sinovac vaccine to children, teenagers and elderly persons," he added.

Persons receiving the vaccination have to bring along original identity documents. If the identity documents do not bear the child's photo, such as the birth certificate, then school documents (such as school handbooks) bearing a photo of the student must be presented at the time of vaccination.

As the BioNTech vaccine for children requires a special dilution procedure, children aged 5 to 11 must receive the BioNTech vaccine at the four CCVCs and must be accompanied by their parents/guardians in person when receiving vaccination. They must bring along a consent form of the following version signed by their parents on the date of vaccination (www.covidvaccine.gov.hk/pdf/Consent_Form_for_Fractional_BioNTech_Vaccination_ENG.pdf).

For persons aged 12 to 17, please make a reservation for the 16 CVCs providing the BioNTech vaccine. They must bring along a consent form of the following version signed by their parents on the date of vaccination (www.covidvaccine.gov.hk/pdf/Consent_Form_for_COVID19_Vaccination_ENG.pdf).
