Domestic helper at Financial Secretary's official residence tests preliminarily positive for COVID-19

     A spokesman for the Financial Secretary's Office (FSO) today (February 25) said that a domestic helper at the official residence of the Financial Secretary has tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19.

     The domestic helper works at the Financial Secretary's official residence. She last performed duties on February 23 and is mainly responsible for daily household services at the residence. Owing to the nature of her work, she occasionally stays overnight in an adjacent staff quarters at the residence. She wore masks and followed relevant disease prevention measures at work, and has no recent travel history.

     The Financial Secretary and his family, as well as the domestic helpers on duty at the residence, have undergone testing with professional swab sampling and the results are negative.

     Although Mr Chan and his family are not close contacts of the domestic helper, after consulting the Department of Health (DH), and for the sake of prudence, Mr Chan will work from home for five days until February 27, counting from the last day he had contact with the positive case.
 
     The FSO has conducted cleaning and disinfection at the adjacent wing of the official residence. It will arrange testing for the remaining domestic helpers at the official residence, and follow up on the case in accordance with the DH's advice.
 
     The FSO will continue to implement disease prevention measures vigorously, and has reminded all staff members at the residence to pay attention to personal protective measures and stay vigilant at all times. They should seek medical advice and inform the FSO if they are feeling unwell.
