Nurse at DH's Education and Training Centre in Family Medicine tested preliminarily positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus

     The Department of Health (DH) today (February 14) said that a nurse who works at Education and Training Centre in Family Medicine (ETCFM) in Ngau Tau Kok has tested preliminarily positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
      
     The nurse concerned had COVID-19 test on February 9 and the result was negative. She last performed duties on February 11. She wore appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing duties. She underwent regular testing on February 11 and tested preliminarily positive. She was asymptomatic. She was deployed to quarantine centre at Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre from February 9 to 10 to support the work on quarantine measures, during which she had contact with confinees with protection of appropriate PPE.
      
     The Centre for Health Protection's epidemiological investigation is ongoing. The ETCFM will be closed tomorrow (February 15) for thorough cleaning and disinfection. Affected clients have been contacted to reschedule their service appointments. The ETCFM will open as usual this Wednesday (February 16).​

     The DH is highly concerned about the COVID-19 situation and has reminded all staff again to maintain personal hygiene and remain vigilant at all times. If feeling unwell, they should seek medical attention immediately.
