Hospital Authority announces clusters of nosocomial infections of COVID-19

The spokesman for the Hospital Authority made the following announcement today (February 13) on clusters of nosocomial infections of COVID-19:
Following a Patient Care Assistant working in Cheshire Home, Chung Hom Kok tested positive for COVID-19 on February 10, the hospital has conducted contact tracing. One health care assistant who works in the same ward tested positive for COVID-19 today. So far no additional hospital staff members and patients were identified as close contact.
Regarding United Christian Hospital’s announcement on the case of 65-year-old female patient being confirmed positive for COVID-19 on February 10, apart from a 92-year-old female patient confirmed preliminarily positive yesterday, a 73-year-old female patient from the same ward, who is one of the five close contacts of the patients concerned, tested preliminarily positive to COVID-19 today. The ward concerned has suspended admission and patient transferral to other ward or hospital since February 10.
Regarding an earlier announcement by Caritas Medical Centre on February 8 on a confirmed 33-years-old female patient in a surgical ward, one 67-year-old female patient who was identified as other contact tested positive on February 11.
Regarding the cluster of cases in a medical and geriatrics ward announced by Shatin Hospital on February 11, an 85-year-old male patient, who is one of the 36 close contacts of the patients concerned, tested preliminarily positive ​yesterday (February 12). The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition.
The hospitals will continue to closely monitor the health condition of patients and staff members and communicate with the Centre for Health Protection on the latest situation.
