An assistant inspector of works of Housing Department tests positive for COVID-19
***************************************************************

The Housing Department learned that an assistant inspector of works has tested positive today (February 9) for COVID-19.

Centre for Health Protection informed the officer recently that he was identified as a close contact of COVID-19 and was required to be quarantined. He has subsequently tested positive for COVID-19 during the quarantine period.

He worked at a non-domestic facilities construction site of the Housing Department at Diamond Hill Comprehensive Development Area. His last worked in the site office on January 31. He did not have contact with the public recently while performing duties. He had been wearing masks and following relevant disease prevention measures at work.

The Housing Department had informed the contractor concerned about this case. The contractor had also thoroughly cleaned and sterilized the office in accordance with the guidelines of the Centre for Health Protection (CHP). The Housing Department had requested all staff and workers working at this site to take COVID-19 tests.

The Housing Department will continue to maintain close liaison with the CHP and co-operate with its disease prevention measures and quarantine work.
