Hongkong Post postal officer and driver of contractor test preliminarily positive for COVID-19
******************************************************************************************
Hongkong Post said today (February 9) that a postal officer and a driver of its contractor have tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19.

The postal officer works in Aberdeen Post Office and last performed duties on February 5. He works at the counter behind a partition to keep an appropriate social distance from customers. He underwent temperature screening when attending work and his body temperature was normal. Meanwhile, a driver of Hongkong Post's contractor who was working for the Tseung Kwan O Delivery Office also preliminarily tested positive. He did not need to have contact with mail items or perform any delivery duties. Both were wearing masks while on duty.

Upon notification of the cases today, Hongkong Post immediately arranged for all co-workers of the postal officer and the driver concerned to undergo COVID-19 testing and thorough cleaning and disinfection of all the facilities and mail items of the offices pursuant to the guidelines set out by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP).

Aberdeen Post Office and its iPostal Station and Post Office Box Lobby will be closed this afternoon and tomorrow (February 10). Members of the public can access postal services at Ap Lei Chau Post Office (Shop 13-16, G/F, Lei Ning House, Ap Lei Chau Estate) and Wah Fu Post Office (423-424, Wah Chun House, Wah Fu (I) Estate, Pok Fu Lam) nearby. Besides, the Tseung Kwan O Delivery Office will be temporarily closed from tomorrow to February 11). Mail delivery services and iPostal Station service for the district (including Tseung Kwan O, the Tseung Kwan O industrial area and Clearwater Bay) will be delayed during the said period. Hongkong Post apologises for the inconvenience caused. For enquiries, members of the public may call the Hongkong Post enquiry hotline at 2921 2222.

Hongkong Post will continue to implement measures for social distancing and infection control at all postal facilities to safeguard the health of staff and the public, and maintain close liaison with the CHP. Staff members are also reminded to take note of their personal hygiene and stay vigilant at all times, and are advised to seek medical advice immediately in case of feeling unwell.
