Fatal traffic accident in Wong Tai Sin

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Wong Tai Sin yesterday (December 31) in which a 23-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man died.

     At about 6.10pm, a private car driven by a 25-year-old man was travelling along Tai Yau Street towards Choi Hung Road. When approaching Tai Yau Street near Pat Tat Street, it reportedly lost control, rammed into a taxi, knocked down five pedestrians after running onto the pavement. The private car then rammed into a shop.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the 23-year-old woman was certified at scene, and sustaining serious head injuries, the 63-year-old man was sent to United Christian Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 7.03pm. Besides, sustaining foot injuries, a 29-year-old man was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state; sustaining foot injuries, a 43-year-old woman was sent to United Christian Hospital in conscious state; sustaining foot injuries, a 63-year-old woman was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in conscious state.

     The 25-year-old private car driver felt unwell and was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in conscious state. He was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East is underway.
