Fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei yesterday (December 31) afternoon in which a 77-year-old man died.

     At 6.08pm, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 70-year-old man was travelling along Ning Po Street towards Yau Ma Tei. When turning right towards Canton Road, it reportedly knocked down the 77-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     The PLB was later located on Castle Peak Road - Sham Tseng. The man was trapped under the PLB and was subsequently rescued by firemen. Sustaining multiple serious injuries, the man was certified dead at scene.

     The PLB driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
