REO hosts hands-on practice sessions on Electronic Poll Register operation for polling staff (with photos)

The EPR system will be used for issuing ballot papers at most of the ordinary polling stations in this election for more flexible, efficient and accurate issuance of ballot papers. An elector must show his/her Hong Kong identity card and temporarily pull his/her mask aside as instructed at the ballot paper issuing desk. The staff will scan the elector’s identity card with an EPR tablet to verify whether the person is a registered elector and ascertain the types of ballot papers to be issued and then issue the ballot paper(s).
"While the Polling Officers issue the ballot papers to the eligible electors through the EPR system, the Assistant Presiding Officers (Information Technology) provide technical support to the running of the system in the polling station. To ensure the smooth issuance of ballot papers, a total of 20 hands-on practice sessions were organised by the REO this week so that the staff could operate the system in person and familiarise themselves with details of the procedures," a spokesman for the REO said today (December 9).
The REO will continue to arrange training and practice sessions for electoral staff to ensure smooth workflow, accuracy and efficiency; enhance co-ordination and response capabilities; and make comprehensive preparations for the LCGE.
