Wan Chai DHC Express officially opens (with photos)
***************************************************
The Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, officiated at the opening ceremony of the Wan Chai District Health Centre Express (DHC Express) today (November 27).

"Through the active involvement of the NGO operators, DHC Expresses could utilise the local network and resources to proactively and flexibly provide district-based primary healthcare services that meet local needs," said Professor Chan at the opening ceremony.

The Wan Chai DHC Express is operated by the Methodist Centre and comprises a core centre and five service points. It provides one-stop primary healthcare services such as health promotion, nurse counselling, health risk factors assessment, health management teams and chronic disease management in accordance with local needs under the aim "Healthy Life in Wan Chai".

The DHC Express also provides community pharmacist counselling services and offers rehabilitation service to patients who suffered from stroke, hip fracture and myocardial infarction. These patients can continue rehabilitation at the DHC Express as a facilitation to their early integration into the community. Moreover, the DHC Express will collaborate with the Hong Kong East Cluster of the Hospital Authority, particularly Ruttonjee Hospital, to organise events and provide relevant primary healthcare services to the discharged patients.

Professor Chan said that the Methodist Centre has been based in Wan Chai District for many years. She was pleased to see that the DHC Express does not only confine its services to the core centre and five service points, but also connects with various organisations in the community and reaches out to different groups with a view to bringing its unique "district-based" primary healthcare services into full play.

The core centre of the Wan Chai DHC Express is located on 16/F of Congregation House, Leighton Road while the five service points are located at the Methodist Centre Headquarters, Methodist Family Wellness Hub, Methodist Rejoice Centre, Methodist Wellness Centre and Methodist Art Centre.
