LCSD to present "Cheers!" Series to delight audiences in festive season

The "Cheers!" Series, an annual family entertainment programme presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be held from November to February next year. Offering a wide variety of performances ranging from puppetry, dance and acrobatics to film and multimedia theatre, the series will showcase excellent programmes by local and overseas performing groups that will amaze and delight audiences during the festive season.

    Programmes in the "Cheers!" Series include the following:

"The Secret Theatre" (Dance Film) by the Scottish Ballet (UK)
Times and dates: 4pm on December 25 (Saturday) and 8pm on December 26 (Sunday)
Venue: Auditorium, Kwai Tsing Theatre
Tickets: $60
Synopsis: A young boy stumbles into an empty theatre. When he reaches to lift a curtain, the theatre springs to life to become a carnival featuring ballet, acrobatics, snow and clowns.

"Cirkopolis" (Acrobatic Film) by Cirque Éloize (Canada)
Times and dates: 8pm on December 25 (Saturday) and 4pm on December 26 (Sunday)
Venue: Auditorium, Kwai Tsing Theatre
Tickets: $60
Synopsis: In a highly stylised metropolis, acrobats and multidisciplinary artists offer surprises to the audience through humour and colour, innovative stage design, an original musical score and video projections.

"Techno Circus" (Live-streaming Performance) by SIRO-A (Japan)
Times and dates: 7.30pm on January 15 (Saturday) and 3pm on January 16 (Sunday)
Venue: Studio Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre
Tickets: $180
Synopsis: Performers mix dance and comedy mime with spectacular projection, light animation and pulsating electro beats, offering audiences a ground-breaking interactive multimedia physical theatre experience.

    The "Cheers!" Series will also launch a number of online programmes (including puppetry and circus performances) soon, enabling members of the public to enjoy the performances at home. Relevant programmes will be announced on the above-mentioned website in due course.

    All persons will be required to use the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile application to scan the venue QR code before they are allowed to enter LCSD offices and venues except for exempted persons who are aged below 12 or aged 65 or above and those with disabilities that render use of the app difficult. Exemptions will also be granted to individual persons depending on the actual circumstances. All exempted persons are required to complete a record form to register their personal particulars and the date and time of their visits. As it will take time to verify personal particulars of exempted persons under the new arrangement, their waiting time for using public services or entering the relevant venues may be lengthened. The LCSD suggests that members of the public arrive early and appeals for their understanding. The department also encourages the exempted persons to use the app as far as possible to save time.
