Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Awards Presentation Ceremony to be held online today

The following is issued on behalf of the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency:
 
     Around 1 750 students, seven apprentices and 10 working adults will be presented with various 2019/20 and 2020/21 scholarships and awards under the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund (SEYMF) today (November 19).
 
     In the 2019/20 and 2020/21 academic years, the Fund disbursed $5.3 million. To be presented in this round will be three fellowship awards for overseas studies ($300,000 each), one overseas fellowship for a student with disabilities ($300,000), six fellowships for postgraduate students ($50,000 each), 12 scholarships for undergraduate students ($40,000 each), two fellowships for students with disabilities ($50,000 each), 12 medals for students who obtained outstanding results in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination ($5,000 each), 1 691 prizes for senior secondary school students and 24 prizes for students of the Vocational Training Council ($1,000 each), seven awards for outstanding apprentices ($5,000 each), and 10 awards for working adults who underwent retraining and successfully applied what they learned in their new positions ($5,000 each).
 
     The awards presentation ceremony will be held online at 2.30pm today. Officiating guests will include Lady Youde; the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Ms Kwan Sau-ha; and the Chairman of the SEYMF Council, Mr Ma Ching-cheng.      Since its inception, the SEYMF has supported around 28 000 Hong Kong students under its major schemes. Over 2 800 scholars and fellows have completed their studies and are now working in Hong Kong in different sectors, contributing to the well-being and development of society.
