Hongkong Post unveils new stamp issues from January to June 2022
****************************************************************
Hongkong Post today (November 17) announced the six sets of special stamps to be issued from January to June 2022, offering a fantastic collection of stamps under a variety of themes, each with its distinctive and refreshing style.

The coming issues cover a wide range of themes, namely national development, international events and local culture. Among them, the most exciting one is the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development" special stamps that will be issued on February 18, 2022 (Friday). The Greater Bay Area comprises the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and the nine municipalities in Guangdong Province. The development of the Greater Bay Area is accorded the status of key strategic planning in the Country's development blueprint. Hong Kong will hold the valuable opportunities and participate proactively in the in-depth integration within the region and development of an international first-class bay area ideal for living, working and travelling.

Equally attractive is the stamp sheetlet on "China's Aerospace Development" depicting the milestones of China's Aerospace Development since the 1970s. The stamp sheetlet is designed in an oval shape of the universe. It contains two round-shaped stamps symbolising the view of the aerospace from the spaceship.

Hongkong Post, as usual, will issue a set of special stamps on the Chinese zodiac sign of the coming year to herald the Lunar New Year. "Year of the Tiger" stamp depicts the Tiger in diversified art forms. A "Gold and Silver Stamp Sheetlet on Lunar New Year Animals – Ox/Tiger" will also be issued, featuring a Year of the Ox stamp and a Year of the Tiger stamp in pairs in celebration of the festive season.

After the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games, the XXIV Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 will be held in February 2022. This is the first time for China to host the Winter Games and Hongkong Post will specifically bring forward a set of stamps featuring the various sport events, rekindling the community's Olympic enthusiasm.

Following the enthusiastic response to the "Local Snacks in Hong Kong" special stamps issued in 2021, stamp lovers must keep an eye for "Local Snacks in Hong Kong II" which will bring forth another set of Hong Kong style local snacks and the most authentic manifestation of local food culture.

Located at the western tip of the West Kowloon Cultural District, the Hong Kong Palace Museum is scheduled to open in mid-2022. Embracing new curatorial approaches, the Museum will offer a Hong Kong perspective and a global vision, presenting the finest objects from the Palace Museum and other leading cultural institutions around the world. The special stamps under the theme of "Hong Kong Palace Museum" showcase the precious collections from the Palace Museum. The public can take the precious collections home in the form of philatelic products for appreciation, or introduce the collections to overseas friends and relatives through the special stamps.

Customers may place advance orders for the above new stamp products from today on the Hongkong Post Stamps website (stamps.hongkongpost.hk) or the Facebook page "郵票.郵趣@Hongkong Post Stamps" (www.facebook.com/HKPStamps).
