Draft Pak Lap Outline Zoning Plan approved
******************************************
The Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Pak Lap Outline Zoning Plan (OZP).

"The approved OZP provides a statutory land use planning framework to guide the nature and rural conservation and village type development within the Pak Lap area," a spokesman for the Town Planning Board said today (October 15).

The planning scheme area (the Area), covering about 6.8 hectares, is located at the southern coast of the Sai Kung peninsula and encircled by Sai Kung East Country Park with its south side opening towards the scenic Pak Lap Wan. It is accessible by a footpath leading from Sai Kung Man Yee Road.

The Area is characterised by a rural and countryside ambience. Pak Lap is the only recognised village in the Area, and some of the houses in the village cluster are still inhabited.

The approved OZP has incorporated amendments shown on the draft Pak Lap OZP No. S/SK-PL/3 (read as including the amendment as shown on Plan No. R/S/SK-PL/3-A2), which mainly involved the rezoning of a site to the east of the village cluster at Pak Lap from "Village Type Development" ("V") to "Agriculture", a site to the south of the village cluster from "V" to "Government, Institution or Community (1)" ("G/IC(1)"), and a site to the further south of the village cluster from "G/IC" to "Conservation Area". Opportunity is also taken to amend the Notes and Explanatory Statement of the OZP to reflect the above amendments and to update the general information of various land use zonings and the planning circumstances, where appropriate.

The approved Pak Lap OZP No. S/SK-PL/4 is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters of the Planning Department in North Point and Sha Tin, the Sai Kung and Islands District Planning Office, the Sai Kung District Office and the Sai Kung Rural Committee.

Copies of the approved OZP are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed at the Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
