EPD convictions in August

Two of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, three were under the Noise Control Ordinance, 64 were under the Public Cleansing and Prevention of Nuisances Regulation and 15 were under the Waste Disposal Ordinance.
A company and a person were involved in three different cases of importing controlled waste without a permit, carrying out asbestos works without the appointment of a registered contractor and commencing asbestos works without proper notification to the relevant authority. A $10,000 fine, which was the heaviest fine in August, was imposed on the company and the person for each of their offences.
