Implementation of vehicle access control in Tuen Mun Tsang Tsui Columbarium from September 10
******************************************************************************************
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said today (September 8) that a vehicle access booking system will be introduced at Tuen Mun Tsang Tsui Columbarium (Columbarium) on September 10 (Friday), in which all vehicles, except authorized ones (such as public transport and government vehicles, etc), must make reservations through the FEHD website before they are allowed to enter the Columbarium.

A spokesman for the FEHD said, “Due to the limited parking spaces in the Columbarium, vehicle congestions occur from time to time and the road traffic in the vicinity are affected. Therefore, traffic control in the Columbarium has to be strengthened. Starting from September 10, except authorized vehicles (such as public transport and government vehicles, etc), all vehicles must make reservations through the FEHD website (app.fehd.gov.hk/vab/intro?language=en) before they are allowed to enter the Columbarium.”

The online booking system started operation today. FEHD will reserve quotas for the niche allocatees and their engaged masons so as to facilitate the ash deposition and installation of memorial plaque. When making appointment for mounting memorial plaques through the FEHD website, the registered mason may also make advance booking for his own working vehicle for access to the Columbarium. Information of the vehicle concerned will be saved in the system and no further input is required in future bookings.

If niche allocatees wish to drive to the Columbarium, they should make reservations on the FEHD website via the registered marble contractors with maximum two vehicles for each booking.

â€‹Members of the public who have to drive to the Columbarium may also make reservations one to 14 days prior to their visits. Quotas will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, and the vehicles concerned could only access the Columbarium within the reserved time period.

The spokesman reminded that those who have made reservations may cancel their bookings through the online system if they are unable to visit the Columbarium on the scheduled date or time so as to make room for other people in need.
