Same-day ticket arrangement for COVID-19 vaccination to be expanded to cover target groups
******************************************************************************************
     Starting from this Thursday (September 9), 21 Community Vaccination Centres (CVCs) (except those run by private hospitals) under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme will distribute same-day tickets to the following five target groups so that they can receive vaccination in a CVC at a designated time slot on the day of distribution:

(1) Staff of residential care homes for the elderly, residential care homes for persons with disabilities and nursing homes;
(2) Staff of medical organisations;
(3) Staff of schools, school bus drivers and escorts (commonly known as "nannies");
(4) Staff of catering business, bars/pubs; and
(5) Construction site personnel.

     The same-day tickets will be distributed daily from 7.45am on a first-come, first-served basis. The CVCs will be closed between 1.30pm and 2.30pm daily for cleaning and disinfection, and the last session of vaccination will be held from 7pm to 7.30pm.

     Persons can collect a same-day ticket at a CVC by presenting their Hong Kong identity cards (HKID cards) and declaring the target groups they belong to. They can also authorise their family members to collect a ticket on their behalf, provided that the authorised person can present a copy of the authoriser's HKID card and declare the target group the authoriser belongs to for registration. When receiving the first dose of vaccination, they will be informed by staff of the CVC of the date and time for the second dose.

     "The same-day ticket arrangement has been operating smoothly since its launch on July 29. After evaluating the actual situation, we have decided to extend the arrangement to cover these target groups so as to further raise the vaccination rate of the groups. The arrangement will continue to be applicable to persons aged 60 or above and students aged 12 or above," said a government spokesman.

     The minimum age for receiving the BioNTech vaccine is 12, and that for receiving the Sinovac vaccine is 18.  About 4 100 same-day tickets will be available for distribution at 21 CVCs (see Annex) every day. In view of the limited capacity of the venues, the CVCs, except those run by private hospitals, will each distribute 200 tickets per day. The CVC at Tung Chung Community Hall will distribute 100 tickets per day.
