Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

     Sun Fook Kong Construction Limited and Hung Fat Scaffolding Works Limited were fined $60,000 and $45,000 respectively at Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts today (August 26) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on July 17, 2019, at a building construction site in Tuen Mun. A piece of concrete debris wrapped inside a screen net fell from a building under construction and struck and killed a worker engaging in surveying work on the ground outside the building.
