Government adjusts vaccination record requirements for persons arriving at Hong Kong
************************************************************************************
The Government announced on August 19 that regarding the boarding, quarantine and testing requirements for persons arriving at Hong Kong from overseas places and Taiwan to be effective on August 20, the requirements on vaccination records for persons arriving at Hong Kong will be slightly adjusted.

For persons arriving at Hong Kong who have stayed in medium-risk Group B specified places, Taiwan or low-risk Group C specified places, if they hold vaccination records that are issued by the relevant authorities or relevant institutions where the vaccines were administered, they will be regarded as fulfilling the boarding and compulsory quarantine period-related vaccination record requirements. For persons arriving at Hong Kong who had stayed in high-risk Group A specified places, they must hold recognised vaccination records (Note) so as to be regarded as fulfilling the relevant requirements.

The aforementioned arrangements are the same as the requirements on vaccination records that were implemented from August 9 onwards for persons arriving at Hong Kong from those places.

"For high-risk Group A specified places, Hong Kong residents are currently required to hold recognised vaccination records for boarding flights for Hong Kong, and they must undergo compulsory quarantine in designated quarantine hotels for 21 days upon arrival at Hong Kong. The relevant requirements remain unchanged," said a Government spokesman.

The Government will continue to closely monitor the epidemic situation of different places, and will consider a basket of factors under the risk-based principle, including public health considerations (such as epidemic situation in particular places, testing rate, vaccination rate, volume of travellers and actual imported cases), as well as other local socio-economic factors to adjust the boarding, quarantine and testing requirements for persons arriving at Hong Kong from relevant places based on risk levels as the situation warrants.

Note: Recognised vaccination records include those issued by Hong Kong, an authority or recognised institution of a country where its national regulatory authority is designated by the World Health Organization as a stringent regulatory authority, Mainland or Macao authorities or an institution recognised by Mainland or Macao authorities, or an authority or recognised institution of a country with bilateral vaccination record recognition agreement with Hong Kong.
