Senior appointment in Police Force (with photo)

     Approval has been given for the appointment of the Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Yuen Yuk-kin, as Deputy Commissioner of Police with effect from today (August 12), following the appointment of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Mr Siu Chak-yee as the Commissioner of Police on June 25, 2021.

     Brief biographical notes on Mr Yuen Yuk-kin are set out below:

     Mr Yuen, 55 years old, joined the Hong Kong Police as an Inspector in 1986. Serving predominantly in the crime stream throughout his police career, he has a wealth of experience in the field of criminal investigation and has worked in a variety of crime posts relating to criminal intelligence, serious crime and triad investigation, commercial crime investigation, as well as policy-making.

     He was promoted to Senior Superintendent in 2010 and Chief Superintendent in 2016. In 2019, he was promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime). In 2020, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Assistant Commissioner and took up the post of Director of Crime and Security.
