FEHD appeals to trade stakeholders to get vaccinated

Apart from organising a health talk for catering, market and cold store staff as well as hawkers in late July, the FEHD held two health talks on COVID-19 vaccines at Sheung Shui Slaughterhouse in early August. Specialist in clinical microbiology and infection Dr David Lung was invited as the guest speaker. He explained to the participants the principles of the vaccines, their protection, need-to-know facts and more, and addressed their enquiries on vaccination.
The spokesman said, "Slaughterhouses supply fresh meat to local retailers for purchase by members of the public. It is necessary for the Government to ensure the normal operation of the slaughterhouse business. Apart from encouraging government staff working in the slaughterhouses to get vaccinated, the FEHD has all along been sparing no effort to maintain close contact with stakeholders from the slaughterhouse industry, including operators, importers, buyers and transportation companies, to encourage them to get vaccinated proactively. After a series of promotional activities and two health talks on COVID-19 vaccines, as at early August, nearly 70 per cent of all staff working in Sheung Shui Slaughterhouse and Tsuen Wan Slaughterhouse have received at least one dose of a vaccine."
The FEHD has also produced a short video that includes an appeal by the Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, calling on stakeholders of various trades to proactively support the "Early Vaccination for All" campaign, as well as highlights of the health talks held earlier.
