The Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games today (July 30) brought good news again to the territory. The Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, extended her heartfelt congratulations to Siobhan Bernadette Haughey on winning a silver medal in the Women's 100m Freestyle for Hong Kong.

"This is the first time that a Hong Kong athlete has won two medals at the same Olympic Games. Haughey has been making continuous personal breakthroughs and has beaten world-class opponents with brilliant performances in the competitions. Her remarkable achievement has started a new chapter in Hong Kong swimming. She is highly commended by me and all people of Hong Kong," Mrs Lam said.

Taking into account the silver medal Haughey won in the Women's 200m Freestyle earlier at the Toyko Olympics, she has won two silver medals for Hong Kong already. She has also set a new Asian record in both the Women's 100m and 200m Freestyle.
