LegCo congratulates Cheung Ka-long on winning gold medal for Hong Kong

The President of the Legislative Council (LegCo), Mr Andrew Leung, on behalf of all LegCo Members, issued a letter today (July 27) to congratulate Hong Kong fencer Cheung Ka-long for winning the first gold medal in the Men's Foil Individual competition of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). Mr Leung also expresses heartfelt congratulations to Mr Cheung's coaches and the entire team.
Mr Leung said, "Cheung Ka-long demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the competition even when facing adversity. His outstanding performance in the final round leading to his winning of the gold medal is encouraging and becomes Hong Kong people's pride."
Mr Leung expresses his admiration for the tireless efforts of all Hong Kong athletes. He hopes that the athletes in the Hong Kong, China Delegation will reach new heights in the Olympics Games. Regardless of the competition results, Hong Kong people will stand by our athletes and cheer for them.
LegCo has always been very supportive of the financial proposals submitted by the HKSAR Government for the development of sports facilities and athletes. LegCo will continue to join hands with various sectors in society to support the sports development in Hong Kong.
