Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected dangerous drugs (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (July 12) seized about 3.7 kilograms of 13 types of suspected dangerous drugs, including cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, ketamine and heroin, with an estimated market value of about $1.4 million at Shenzhen Bay Control Point.

     Through risk assessment, Customs officers yesterday afternoon intercepted an incoming truck for inspection at Shenzhen Bay Control Point. Eleven of the parcels in the cargo compartment were found to have suspected dangerous drugs concealed inside. The 46-year-old male truck driver was then arrested.

     Investigation is ongoing.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
