CHP investigates COVID-19 preliminary positive local case at 1-3 Kam Fung Street in Wong Tai Sin

The case involves a 50-year-old male patient who lives at 1-3 Kam Fung Street in Wong Tai Sin. He has been asymptomatic. He underwent the compulsory testing required by the Government in relation to the workplace of case 11 902 and the sample he submitted on July 9 was tested preliminarily positive. His specimen carried the L452R mutant strain (but it is negative to N501Y and E484K strains).
The CHP's epidemiological investigations and relevant contact tracing on the above case are ongoing. Preliminary information revealed that he has no recent travel history and worked as a porter at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and mainly performed duties at the apron. He last went to work on July 10. According to the patient, he was not acquainted with case 11 902.
As the case involves mutant strain which carries higher transmissibility, the Government will make a restriction-testing declaration towards 1-3 Kam Fung Street in Wong Tai Sin tonight. Residents of the building will also be subject to compulsory testing on Days 3, 7, 12 and 19 counting from the day on which the case is announced.
Moreover, the patient's workplace (HKIA) and the places he had visited during the incubation and infectious period will be included in a compulsory testing notice. Specified persons who had been present at the relevant venues at specified periods need to undergo compulsory testing on or before the specified date.
The CHP's investigation reveals that the patient received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination on July 1 (Comirnaty vaccine). Epidemiological investigation and contact tracing of the case will continue.
The CHP also urges all individuals who are in doubt about their own health condition, or individuals with exposure to infection risk, to undergo testing promptly for early identification of infected persons. Moreover, the Government has launched the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme. Members of the public are encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
