LegCo to consider Employment (Amendment) Bill 2021

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
 
     The Legislative Council (LegCo) will hold a meeting tomorrow (July 7) at 11am in the Chamber of the LegCo Complex. During the meeting, the Second Reading debate on the Employment (Amendment) Bill 2021 will resume. If the Bill is supported by Members and receives its Second Reading, it will stand committed to the committee of the whole Council.  After the committee of the whole Council has completed consideration of the Bill and its report is adopted by the Council, the Bill will be set down for the Third Reading.
 
     The Securities and Futures (Amendment) Bill 2021 and the Limited Partnership Fund and Business Registration Legislation (Amendment) Bill 2021 will be introduced into the Council for the First Reading and the Second Reading. The Second Reading debate on the Bills will be adjourned.
 
     On Member's Bill, the Organized and Serious Crimes (Amendment) Bill 2021 will also be introduced into the Council for the First Reading and the Second Reading. The Second Reading debate on the Bill will be adjourned.
 
     On Members' motions, Mr Vincent Cheng and Mr Wong Ting-kwong will move separate proposed resolutions under section 34(4) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to extend the period for amending the Fire Service (Installations and Equipment) (Amendment) Regulation 2021 and the Telecommunications (Registration of SIM Cards) Regulation, laid on the table of the Council on June 9, 2021, to the meeting of August 18, 2021.
 
     Meanwhile, Mr Wong Ting-kwong will move a motion on actively seizing the opportunities of the National 14th Five-Year Plan and striving for accession to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. The motion is set out in Appendix 1.
 
     Mr Martin Liao will move a motion on actively seizing the opportunities arising from the country's new development pattern featuring "dual circulation" to revitalise the post-pandemic economy. The motion is set out in Appendix 2. 
 
     On Government motion, the Chief Secretary for Administration will move a proposed resolution under Article 73(7) of the Basic Law and section 7A of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal Ordinance on appointment of a permanent judge of the Court of Final Appeal. The proposed resolution is set out in Appendix 3.
 
     During the meeting, Mr Martin Liao, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Corruption of the Independent Commission Against Corruption; and Mr Jeffrey Lam, Chairman of the Independent Commission Against Corruption Complaints Committee, will present the "Independent Commission Against Corruption, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China Annual Report 2020 and Reports of ICAC Advisory Committees" and the "ICAC Complaints Committee Annual Report 2020" respectively. They will address the Council on the Reports.
 
     Members will also ask the Government 22 questions on various policy areas, six of which require oral replies.
