Suspension of Transport Department's vehicle examination scheduling system

The scheduled vehicle examinations have been maintained normal. Nevertheless, as the computer system has been suspended, the vehicle examination scheduling system of the TDVEC, the To Kwa Wan Vehicle Examination Centre, the designated vehicle testing centres and the online system have to suspend operation.
"We attach great importance to this incident and apologise for the inconvenience brought to members of the public. The TD has already reported the incident to the Police, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, and will fully cooperate with the investigations", a spokesman said.
The TD and the EMSD are closely following up the above repair work and will resume the vehicle examination scheduling service as soon as possible.
In addition, because the system suspected being hacked contains information on the scheduled examination in the next three to four weeks, including vehicle registration numbers, vehicle chassis numbers and vehicle owners’ names, as well as contact numbers of vehicle owners or their representatives if provided. The TD hereby appeals to the vehicle owners or their representatives to pay attention to calls from unknown sources.
