At around 4pm today (June 12), some protestors in black obstructed traffic by placing rubbish bins and miscellaneous objects on Dundas Street near Fa Yuen Street, causing traffic congestion in the vicinity. Police promptly cleared the barricade to resume the traffic.

     Police are aware that some netizens are inciting participation in unauthorised assemblies and mounted an arrest operation yesterday (June 11). It must be reiterated that participating in an unauthorised assembly risks committing offences under the Public Order Ordinance, and on conviction, shall be liable to a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment; while advertising or publicising an unauthorised assembly shall be liable to a maximum penalty of 12 months’ imprisonment. In addition, taking part in the events may be in breach of relevant offences under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) Regulation (Cap. 599G).

     Police appeal to members of the public to refrain from participating in any unauthorised assemblies. Police will step up patrol and take resolute action to enforce the law.
