Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi last night (February 17) in which a 53-year-old man died.

     At about 11.25pm, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 33-year-old man and a motorcycle driven by the 53-year-old man were travelling along Container Port Road South towards Kwai Chung. Upon reaching No. 2 Roundabout of Container Port Road South, the MGV and the motorcycle reportedly collided.

     The 53-year-old man was trapped under the MGV and was rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious injuries, the man was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 0.07am today (February 18).

     The MGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
