The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) today (January 21) announced that a patient confirmed with COVID-19 passed away today.
 
     A 74-year-old female patient (case number: 9311) with chronic diseases was admitted to CMC due to hypoglycaemia and pneumonia on January 10 afternoon. She tested positive for COVID-19 the next day. Her condition continued to deteriorate and she eventually succumbed at 1.23am today.
 
     The hospital is saddened by the passing away of the patient and will offer the necessary assistance to her family.
 
     Including the above patient, 163 COVID-19 confirmed patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
