The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) and the Guangzhou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau (HRSSGZ) today (December 21) signed a memorandum of co-operation (MoC) to further deepen collaboration on the development of electrical and mechanical (E&M) talent of the two places.

Witnessed by the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services, Mr Eric Pang, and the Director of the HRSSGZ, Mr Wang Jian, the Deputy Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services (Trading Services), Mr Cheung Yuen-fong, and the Deputy Director of the HRSSGZ, Mr He Shilin signed the memorandum online. The areas of collaboration include jointly boosting the training for technicians, strengthening the training to prepare for the WorldSkills Competition, and developing training courses on new technology for E&M trades.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr Pang said that, being the innovation facilitator of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government as well as the pioneer in E&M trades, the EMSD proactively seeks opportunities in talent development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The memorandum will provide new development opportunities for the E&M trades and young technicians, and foster exchanges and co-operation in the E&M trades in both Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

For the last MoC signed between the two places in November 2018, it bears fruit for both parties on talent development, joint training for WorldSkills competitors and networking among E&M trades. The MoC this time is set to bring about more favourable development of E&M talent in both places.
