Trade assistant of TID preliminarily tests positive for COVID-19
***************************************************************

The Trade and Industry Department (TID) said today (December 20) that a trade assistant had tested preliminarily positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The officer worked on the 15th floor of the Trade and Industry Tower (and 13th and 19th floors as needed) and performed administrative duties for the SME Export Marketing Fund. The areas he works at are not open to the public and he does not have contact with members of the public while at work. He last performed his duties on December 17 and has no recent travel history. He had been wearing surgical masks while performing his duties. His body temperature was normal when undergoing temperature screening during work.

The TID will co-operate with the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) in the epidemiological investigation and will arrange for the staff who worked with the officer to work from home and undergo COVID-19 testing. The workplaces concerned including the public areas will also be fully cleaned and sterilised.

The TID has strictly adopted relevant hygienic measures for infectious diseases provided by the CHP and will continue to step up the cleaning and sterilising measures for all work locations. All staff should have their body temperatures checked before performing their duties and wear masks. The TID has reminded all staff to strictly comply with the hygienic measures for infectious diseases. The staff and visitors are also reminded to consult a doctor promptly if they develop any symptoms.

The counter services will continue to be provided on Tuesday (December 22) under the special work arrangement.
