CSSA caseload for November 2020

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in November showed a drop of 667 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent compared with that of October, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (December 17).
 
     The total CSSA caseload at the end of November stood at 224 419 (see attached table), with a total of 319 884 recipients.
 
     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 2.1 per cent to 2 545 cases. Old age cases were down by 0.6 per cent to 130 900 cases. Single parent cases fell by 0.1 per cent to 24 673 cases. Permanent disability cases remained steady at 17 365 cases.
 
     Unemployment cases continued to increase, rising by 0.3 per cent to 19 079 cases. The figure represented an increase of about 54.0 per cent in comparison with that of November 2019. The number of applications of unemployment cases increased by 8.3 per cent to 931 cases in November 2020, representing an increase of about 52.4 per cent from 611 cases in November 2019.
 
     Ill-health cases rose by 0.4 per cent to 25 859 cases.
