Public hospitals daily update on COVID-19 cases and two confirmed patients pass away

As at 9am today (December 15), 79 COVID-19 confirmed patients were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 6 345 patients with confirmed or probable infection have been discharged.
At present, there are 676 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals with 1 235 negative pressure beds activated. A total of 1 126 confirmed patients are currently hospitalised in 23 public hospitals and a community treatment facility, among which 50 patients are in critical condition, 75 are in serious condition and the remaining 1 001 patients are in stable condition.
Moreover, a 79-year-old male COVID-19 confirmed patient (case number: 7611) was transferred to the Accident and Emergency Department of Queen Elizabeth Hospital for resuscitation yesterday afternoon (December 14). His condition continued to deteriorate and he eventually succumbed at 1pm yesterday.
Furthermore, a 64-year-old female COVID-19 confirmed patient (case number: 6347) was transferred to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital from quarantine centre on November 30. Her condition continued to deteriorate and she eventually succumbed at 12.23pm today. Including these two patients, 119 COVID-19 confirmed patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
The Hospital Authority will maintain close contact with the Centre for Health Protection to monitor the latest developments and to inform the public and healthcare workers on the latest information in a timely manner.
