****************************************************************
     Three Police officers, who are posted to the Airport Police District, preliminarily tested positive for the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). Earlier on, a 41-year-old male sergeant, a 32-year-old male constable and a 28-year-old male constable felt unwell and went to the hospital and clinic respectively for treatment on December 7. The three officers preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19 today (December 8). They all have no travel history in the past 14 days, and wore face masks all the time while coming in contact with members of the public during their tours of duty. Their last working days were December 3, December 5 and December 6 respectively.

     The Police are highly concerned and have the following messages:

     (1) Before further assessment by the Centre for Health Protection, all Police officers and civilian staff who might have been in close contact with the three officers concerned have been arranged to undergo quarantine and COVID-19 test;

     (2) Relevant workplace has been sterilised;

     (3)  All officers have been reminded to pay attention to physical health, and to reduce social contact in order to minimise risks of infection. If feeling unwell, they should consult a doctor and report the case immediately; and

     (4) The Police will deploy resources flexibly to ensure provision of emergency services of the areas concerned remains unaffected.

     The Police are highly concerned about the cases and will maintain close communication with the Department of Health and provide assistance in tracing the pathology, by proactively providing information such as the duty record and roster of the three officers concerned.

     Arrangements will be made for close contacts to be conveyed to quarantine centres to undergo quarantine.
