Import of poultry meat and products from Utrecht Province in Netherlands suspended
**********************************************************************************
The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said today (December 3) that the Dutch authorities have notified the Centre about an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N8 avian influenza in the Province of Utrecht in the Netherlands and already updated the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on the notification of the incident. The CFS has instructed the trade to suspend the import of poultry meat and products (including poultry eggs) from the Province of Utrecht from December 1 to protect public health in Hong Kong, and has lifted the ban on the import of poultry meat and products (including poultry eggs) from the Province of Zuid-Holland.

"The CFS has contacted the Dutch authorities over the issue and will closely monitor information issued by the OIE and the relevant authorities on the avian influenza outbreaks. Appropriate action will be taken in response to the development of the situation," the spokesman said.
